Content and consistency are key when it comes to engaging new customers. If it were quick and easy, everyone would be living the good life right about now. Plus, hosting your own site means that you know you can keep it safe, whereas if something were to happen to your middle man, you may lose it.
Include Plenty of Photos and/or Videos
You don’t need special tools to create your imagery. You can just use your phone when you’re starting out. Although, it also isn’t a bad idea to invest in some basic blogging tools if you’re going to create content regularly. Make sure that you’re making ALT image tags for each photo that you use on your website, which also helps with your overall SEO. If taking your own photos isn’t an option, you can always use a stock photography service like Shutterstock instead.
Create a YouTube Channel
Like imagery, video is a crucial tool when it comes to digital marketing in the 2020s. In fact, according to recent reports, more than 80% of marketers are satisfied with their ROI when it comes to the video marketing efforts of their organization. Plus, a lot of people these days prefer watching video to reading, so having that option available for them opens your website up to more consumers. Creating a YT channel and adding video to your site is a great way to increase your website traffic. Plus, it gives you an additional method of monetizing your website – or several, depending how you choose to use it.
Optimize Your Site for Search Engines
Google is hands down the most-popular search engine, and website, in the world. More than 60% of search traffic in the United States this year originated on the king of search engines, who dominates the majority of their market. In order to not miss out on that traffic, and be found before your competitors, you need to make sure that you have a solid presence on Google, and that comes through deploying proper SEO tactics.
If your target market includes women, you absolutely want to be using the visual search engine to drive (large waves of) traffic back to your website! Though the percentage of male users is steadily growing, too. Plus, using great SEO places the visual Pins that you create on the platform in Google’s “images,” section, boosting your brand presence on there as well. Using https://, rather than http:// at the beginning of your website address can make a world of difference, both to you and visitors. A large percentage of traffic drops off if they see that is a site is unsecured. In order to retain those numbers, you’ll want to pay the extra amount for that security when purchasing your hosting and domain, etc.
Make it Mobile Friendly
Making your website mobile friendly is a must in the 2020s. More than two thirds of internet users in the United States access the web from their phones, and if your site is hard for them to use, or doesn’t load at all, they’ll move along to one that does. Make sure you’re not missing out on a large chunk of traffic, and optimize your site for use on mobiles.
