The Best Financial Apps and Tools for Freelancers
Working remotely comes along with a ton of perks. But when you’re self-employed, sometimes getting paid can prove to be a bit stressful. When you’re working from home, you are sometimes working with an international base of clients and not everyone has access to the same type of banking systems. And, even if you are just working with clients in your general area, it’s still nice to have easy payment options that work well for both parties. Here are some of the best financial apps for freelancers that make receiving payments from all over the world a breeze.

This app reduces time and energy when it comes to creating, managing, and sending invoices. With Freshbooks’ cloud accounting software, you can easily create an invoice using one of their many templates, and send it to your clients in a second from anywhere in the world. If you don’t already have a PayPal account: you should. These guys are pretty much the gold standard when it comes to collecting payments from overseas. They offer a lot of different options to suit your personal needs. You don’t need a business account, either, not if you’re the only one who will be getting paid through it, anyways. PayPal transfers are incredibly quick and easy, and they even have their own invoice section, which makes creating and sending invoices a breeze. Oh, did we mention? Creating an account is completely free and let’s face it, PayPal is one of the best financial apps around, hands down.
The PayPal Prepaid Mastercard
Going right along with the above, meet The PayPal Prepaid Mastercard. This little guy is an incredible superhero, and he kicks serious butt when it comes to transferring times and fees. The card, which you can order here, basically acts as its own bank account. It comes with a routing and account number so you can collect direct deposits from anywhere, including off of PayPal. Transferring money from your PayPal to your card is instant and free – it’s a must-have. Use this link to get a FREE $20 credit to your account as soon as you load $40 or more.
Payoneer is another financial app that’s similar to PayPal because it allows for international direct deposits and wire transfers. With this app, you can get paid by your clients quickly and fairly hassle-free. Many businesses (and freelancers) actually prefer Payoneer to PayPal because they charge you less in fees. For instance, when you accept credit card payments from your clients through this app, you will only be charged 3% of the total transaction fee, while you’d be charged 5% for the same transaction with PayPal. Sign up here and earn an extra $25 after you’ve received $1,000 in payments through the app. These guys are definitely one of the best financial apps on the market.
This app operates a lot like the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard in a lot of ways. It’s a bank, but you don’t have to physically go into any building to use it. Chime will send you a card that comes along with an account and routing number that can be used for direct deposits and bank transfers. They even offer nearly 40,000 fee-free ATMs across the country. That’s a big deal, considering how all of the small fees add up. Bonus? They don’t have any international transaction fees. Use this link to sign up and get $50 when you receive a direct deposit load of $200 or more during the first month and a half of opening your account!
Google Pay makes it easy to send and receive payments all over the world in just a matter of minutes – some ways, that is. Depending on which methods you link to your account (debit/credit card, bank account, etc) it may take a bit longer to go through than some other platforms. The good thing about Google Pay is that unlike most online payment programs, they don’t charge ANY fees, not for the person sending or receiving.
