In a world where we’re used to having anything we desire appear at our fingertips in a matter of days, or even minutes, it’s easy to take things for granted sometimes. But some things that you may not appreciate in your daily life could change your entire reality if you lost them overnight. If you’re fortunate enough to have any or all of these things going for you, you’ve got at least five things to be thankful for this year.

5 Things to be Thankful For Today
If you are born into privilege, you may not understand just how lucky you are to have something until you no longer have it. Even if you’re having a rough day, you’ve probably got at least a few things on this list. Check out these five things to be thankful for today that would flip your world upside down if you lost them tomorrow.
Clean, Running Water
If you’ve never spent a day without running water aside from the occasional camping trip, it’s probably hard for you to even imagine what life’s like without it. Let me tell you: it sucks. Not only do we need to drink clean water to survive, but staying clean, and the ability to bathe in general, is something we need to make us feel comfortable. If you were covered in sweat or dirt after a long day and you couldn’t take a shower, you wouldn’t feel very good, would you? Having access to running water is definitely one of the major things to be thankful for.
Just think about how important temperature is to your level of comfort. When you’re too hot, you’re sweaty and sticky and it doesn’t feel good. When you’re too cold, you shiver and shake until you’re able to heat back up. Since a lot of us are used to being able to control the temperature around us when we’re indoors, it can be easy to lose sight of until that power outage hits in the middle of a terrible weather week and reminds us how precious it is. Central air is one of the greatest inventions on the planet, and if you don’t believe me, just try spending a summer in Florida or Arizona without it.
Again, this is one of those things that you don’t even realize how precious it is until you lose it. You most likely have at least some privacy, even if you’ve got a large family. You can escape to a closed bathroom, or lock yourself in your bedroom for a while when you need to wind down. But not everyone has that. Some people are stuck in situations where they’re forced to be around others 24/7. The homeless, for example, can’t exactly duck into their single-stall bathroom for a shave and shower, or even to simply use the restroom. And these days, with the pandemic, many don’t even have access to ANY bathrooms.
True Friends and Family
It can be easy to lose sight of how important relationships are, especially when loving your family members is seen as a societal norm. And, even though you definitely shouldn’t feel obliged to love someone just because they’re family, you should certainly appreciate the family members that you do love. The same applies to your friends and anyone else that makes your life even a little more joyful. This category also includes pets, since they’re both friends and family, all of which are things to be thankful for on a daily basis!
A Quiet and Comfortable Place to Sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep is crucial to our wellbeing. You probably don’t think very much about your bed, unless it’s new, of course. If you’ve never not had one to sleep in, why would you? But if that day were to come, can you imagine what your nights would look like? What if there was no bed, no couch, no blankets, no anything? If you’ve got a soft, comfortable, warm and quiet place to sleep at night, count it as one of the things to be thankful for in your life. If you’re ready to upgrade your bed and make sure that a child in need has one to sleep in too, check out the super comfy Puffy mattresses. They donate products to children all across the country who need them most, so you can sleep well knowing you’ve made an impact.
